Green Without Envy...

At Karges & Caron, we are committed to minimizing our impact on the environment. Though green practices are trendy, for us it is also smart business. Reducing waste allows us to pass on savings to our clients.

Here are some examples:

  • We encourage clients to use our online catalog to cut down on printing.
  • We use extra fabric as pull fabric so we don't have to buy special pull fabric or throw any fabrics away.
  • We build our products to last.  Our quality and durability not only prevent disposal, but they allow for future generations to keep using them, potentially only needing recovering after long-term use.
  • We use only wood from sustainable suppliers.
  • Our finishes use VOC compliant materials that don't harm the environment.
  • When we upholster with green materials, we use second generation (reclaimed) nylons and polyesters that would have otherwise been thrown away.
  • All of our fully upholstered furniture is manufactured in Taylorsville, NC from materials made in the United States.

Note: our exposed frames are exclusively from Europe (a fact we are proud of) because Yugoslavian Beech (some call it "Euro" beech) is a vastly superior material. Its unique cellular structure makes it the ideal wood for chairs. This material allows for years of leaning back and less replacement (if any), reducing the long-term environmental impact.

Our commitment to minimal environmental impact goes beyond materials and also extends to our utility consumption. However, in order to fulfill our commitment to long-term sustainability via high-quality products, we air condition our factory in the summer. This is not for our comfort, but rather for quality. Allowing a factory to "self-level" the moisture content of the wood via natural outdoor humidity increases expansion and contraction by 400% and reduces the life of the piece significantly. We use air conditioning to prevent this. It's a critical part of ensuring the quality and longevity of your furniture.

We recycle everything we can whenever we can.
